LONDON FASHION WEEKEND...you did not disappoint.

The catwalk collections were such an eclectic mixture of styles, a smorges board if you will. It consisted of three sections; Candy Rock, Swallows and Amazons and finally Vintage Glamour by Shikasuki. Candy Rock featured pieces by Jasper Conran, Belle & Bunty, Jaegar, Ream and Ioannis Dimitrousis. It was a 'kooky' section with many of models wearing vintage 'nerd' glasses, yet also included soft, lingerie-esque feel to it.
Swallows and Amazons on the other hand was much more boho and playful featuring Twenty8twelve pieces (Sienna and Savannah Miller's line), Jaegar again, Reem, Eley Kishimoto, Frostfrench (Sadie Frost and Jemima French's line) and the boho creator herself Alice Temperley. This collection not only featured many of Jude Law's ex's designs but also lots of sorbet coloured pop socks. This look looked playful on the catwalk and it will be interesting how it is applied to the 'real world'.
The final collection was my favourite; Vintage Glamour. It featured beautiful dresses by Jack Bryan, Zandra Rhodes, Ossie Clark, Biba and Benet. Every piece was accessorized with ornate 50's vintage bags... absolute perfection! The dresses were flattering, flowing and fresh despite being defined as vintage. Pastels dominated the colour pallet not only in this collection but all three, bringing a fresh and youthful vibrance to the catwalk.
There was also a sneak preview of Betty Jacksons collection, which too included nudes and pastels and had a huge nightwear/ soft silk influence.
Here are a few photographs of my favourites...(more to come later on.)

I came away with a few purchases too, a beautiful brown leather Luella tote, a few rings and a new leather jacket.

'I didn't even get a sexy voice!'

Firstly a massive apology for my lack of blogging recently, have been struck down by tonsillitis and unfortunately my wit and blogging ability was taken down with it! I didn't even get a sexy smouldering croaky voice with it. Back to my normal self now though so lots of blogging and news to catch up with.

- I AM PUBLISHED! Had my first article published in the Redbrick (Birmingham Uni newspaper) last week and am soo pleased. The content featured on Viv is my homegirl actually, its all about Clare Rojas exhibiton... Have a gander.

- London Fashion Week, what an amazing one it was, kicking off with Naomi Campbell's Haiti fundraiser show, then first ever live stream of a catwalk show with Burberry Prorsum (Christopher Bailey, you are genius) and ending with the publics turn at London Fashion Weekend at the beautiful Somerset House.

- Over the next few weeks... plan on going to see a few movies, Tom Ford's 'A Single Man' at the top of the list. Heading to London's o2 for some Dizzee Rascal and Lily Allen next week and promise to review and excite on Viv is my homegirl.

Ah hoy!

Glad to see the nautical trend is still going, I have enough stripy ensembles to run my own fleet of boats or a gondalier business. Long live blue and white stripes!

Cinema Italiano

I went to see 'nine' on friday and LOVED it. Its pretty artsy, so if you are wanting an easy to follow story this probably isn't for you. The cast were amazing and Kate Hudson's performance of 'cinema italiano' has been stuck in my head since, look at the video of it...

From what I have experienced of Italy, well Rome and Venice it captured the italian way perfectly (lots of expresso and cigarettes and so much passion). I am in awe of this movie and cannot wait to see it again.

Ciao Bella.

wrap up

I love the draping effect that has been used on the catwalk recently and it has FINALLY hit the highstreet...
Aimee LOVES this!

RIP GIVENCY GOD

This is my little tribute to Alexander Mcqueen, an absolute legend in British fashion and heading the givency fashion house too at one point. Here are some of my favourite creations by the givency god himself.

Where's your horse?

So this riding/army boots trend, why won't it disappear? On girls its quite edgy and can look really good but on guys it's just not good. No girl wants to see a guy wearing shoes that accentuates that his legs are skinnier than hers.

Decoration

Have a look at Shrinking Violets' ornate jewellery. Absolutely lovely.
SHRINKING VIOLETS

Spring Bling.

Sequins are here to stay, well I hope so! Aquilano e Rimondi's dress is perfection.

Wax:On/Wax:Off

No not a karate kid move but a night that I have been living for all week. Excited to rave my booty off with some of my favourite people.

Feminist folk.

Visited the IKON gallery yesterday and was pleasantly suprised with Clare Rojas exhibition. Her mantra of manifesting her own perfect world where women are all powerful and men exploited had me believe that I was going to see something similar to what I see in my Gender lectures when we are looking at Germaine Greer. However I was pleasantly suprised to see Rojas patchwork quilted prints with smiling women and pretty flowers featured in almost every piece, they had an incredibly comfortable feel about them (maybe thats because I'm a little partial to a bit of feminism!).

Definately worth a look.
