Feminism, a modern day taboo.

Why is it that the term 'feminist' nowadays often has a negative connotation? Previously it has been a forward thinking strong position, but many today consider ALL feminists to be bra-burning, men-hating nutters. This is far from the case and I suggest that many adopt feminist thought's without even realising; for instance I am sure many would vote for equal pay among the sexes, for women to have the same opportunities in education, the family and the labour market as men. Feminism is simply the want for equality, not for women to be exactly like men, but for them to be on the same level playing field. ALSO...
