Last Thursday I took a fly-by visit to Hammersmith to go and watch my friend Tiff Stevenson in the Show me the Funny finale... she rocked it. Without a doubt comedy is the hardest show biz umbrella to be under and god that girl has guts.

Give Summer the Boot.

I am a sandal freak but I have to say that is as far as my summer lovin' goes fashion wise. Autumn/Winter is much more endearing to me, I love the layering, knits, autumnal, rich shades and the boots... ah the boots.
I have already started collecting my winter footwear, both Topshop; the Allegra Chelsea boot featured in the post below and these beauties...

Both the high street and designer avenues have so much to offer boot wise, from Jil Sander's and Mary Katrantzou's eccentric, yet divine beauties to Kurt Geiger and River Island's affordable and gorgeous pairs.

That 'transitional' period.

Not only are many of my friends and I having to contend with moving home post graduation in order to save money/ plan the rest of our lives and begin our transition into the daunting 'real world' but we, like the rest of the fash-pack are having to deal with the transition between seasons and my oh my what a difficulty that is. Forget losing our freedom to over-protective parents or giving up our personal space, we have that down to a T, but ask us how to make our uber bright hot pants work with our fur coats... it just leads to a hooker-worthy disaster.

After a lot of contemplating and wardrobe fishing I have come up with the top 5 transitional pieces that will work from late summer, all the way through to snowy January.

1. The Mustard/Blood Red Midi. 

It's up to you which autumnal shade you choose but this style of skirt looks hot teamed with a baggy vest, gladiator sandals/wedges and a leather jacket for those summery nights OR with thick tights, chelsea boots and a wooly off-the-shoulder knit. Inbetween seasons, go for bare legs and chelsea boots.

2. Layerable Knit.

Whether a thin jumper that can be layered with your thermals (long sleeves) or a thick knit cardigan that can been thrown over the top of any summer wear it will be certain bring you into A/W 2011. It seems Pooch knits are in if you are one to follow the crowd, but I personally am still loving the aztec threads and think they are perfect for those summer to autumn months.

3. Leather Jacket

Super hot over a summer frock or super cosy layered with fur and woollen lovelies. I have recently invested in a new leather jacket from Topshop with a detachable fur collar, perfect transitional property.

4. Uber bright denim.

A must have last season and definitely still applicable to the next. Instead of colour clashing your brights, team your grass green, raspberry red and the alike with more demure tones such as mustard, camel, navy, black, and white. Think heavy knit on top and killer boot on the bottom and you are good to go.

5. Headwear.

Any excuse, eh? Well headgear is in style any time of year and this year it is the Fedora hat, whether at a summer festival or ice skating at summer set house this hat is perfecto. I will leave the choice of colour to you, but the deeper and richer the tone the better...

Happy Transitioning.

Other than an angry face, this week I am wearing...

Macbook-wise, this week has been a disaster, it has been back to the Apple store more times than Eve could ever have dreamt of.  Due to this my blogging has been few and far between so muchos apologies for that, hopefully once the final repair has been made this week I will be all over blogasphere like a rash.

Anyway rashes aside, I have been asked to feature a 'What am I wearing' column occasionally. So here goes....

My venture to Paris didn't start off brilliantly, after encountering our first Parisian (sniffing Cocaine off the windowsill of the Eurostar station) we arrived at our hotel. Hotel Pointe Rivoli looked stunning on the website so when we arrived and toddled through the door labelled 'HOTEL' we were shocked to find a pokey little place, no lift, a seventy stair climb and a room that can only be described as the love child of Fawlty Towers and a dirty porno movie, PVC cushions and all. Solution; champagne and numerous bottles of red wine. 

Regardless of the dwellings the city was everything I expected; stylish, beautiful and full of character. Other than the usual tourist attractions, I visited the famous macaroon shop Laduree, the high fashion hang-out Colette and Les Arts Decoratifs to see Hussein Chalayan's exhibtion and my god it was amazing....

Hussein Chalayan, who this week was given an honour by the London College of Fashion is perhaps the pioneer of merging new technologies and classic lines all in the name of fashion. His exhibition was off-setting in that it had a disturbing aura which unnerved the audience, leaving them expecting the unexpected. Showcasing key pieces from his past season collections, the exposition displayed Chalayan's ready-to-wear clean lines and classic pieces as well his avant-garde couture pieces. The displays were breathtaking but for me the dark rooms where Chalayan's latest catwalk shows including  the transcending 'Transformer's' 2007 show and his short movies were shown was the highlight. Chalayan's work speaks for itself and exemplifies perfectly how structure, art, design and fashion can collaborate flawlessly.
